Ms. Jessica Maple

Associate Director of Bands, Loma Alta Middle SChool

Ms. Maple has lived in the San Antonio area for 19 years coming from the suburbs of Chicago, IL originally.

She is a band director within the Medina Valley ISD band programs and has been for 16 years; currently directing at Loma Alta Middle School for the past 9 years teaching beginner woodwinds, assisting with beginner percussion and leading the Non-Varsity Symphonic Band in UIL competitions and assisting with other ensembles within the WildCat Band Program; she also coaches UIL Music Memory and Chess Puzzle on campus. Ms. Maple is dedicated to developing strong fundamentals in embouchure, posture, rhythm reading, and music literacy while fostering a love of performing for others.

Ms. Maple graduated with her Bachelor’s of Music Education from Illinois State University in Normal, IL and moved to SATX soon after. After 7 years in Castroville, she traveled to Yamaguchi, Japan to teach High School English for three years with the JET Programme; assisting with the Yamaguchi High School Symphony club and performances and while there was a member of the Yamaguchi Brass Society and performed in competition with the ensemble as well as in a related clarinet ensemble.

Since moving back to San Antonio, Ms. Maple is a busy member of the community; volunteering with the Japan-America Society of San Antonio as their current treasurer, joining and performing with the Heart of Texas Concert Band on soprano and upgrading to bass clarinet and on their Board as Secretary and actively performs Bass Clarinet 1 with the Prickly Pear Clarinet Ensemble. Ms. Maple will take any opportunity to perform, volunteer or run a 5K; much to the chagrin of her cat, Professor.
