Mr. Josue Solalinde
Associate DIRECTOR OF BANDS
Josue Solalinde holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio, where he also earned a Music Performance Certificate.
Mr. Solalinde has an extensive background in music education, having instructed marching percussion camps across San Antonio, New Braunfels, Castroville, and Laredo. He has also served on the front ensemble staff of Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps, contributing to the development of nationally competitive performers.
In 2016, Mr. Solalinde was appointed Assistant Band Director at Harlandale High School, where he spent five years helping lead the program to consistent success. Under his direction, both the second and third concert ensembles earned UIL Superior Ratings. His percussion programs have also received numerous accolades, including awards for Best Drumline, Best Snare Line, Best Tenors, Best Basses, and Best Front Ensemble at various competitions.
As an active performer, Mr. Solalinde marched snare drum with Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010 and 2011. He has performed with a wide range of ensembles, including the San Antonio Symphony, Symphony of the Hills, Mid-Texas Symphony, Alamo City Opera, Opera Piccola of San Antonio, San Antonio Brass Band, San Antonio Symphonic Band, and the Helotes Community Band.
Mr. Solalinde is currently in his fifth year as Associate Director of Bands and Director of Percussion at Medina Valley High School. During his tenure, he has guided the percussion program to competitive success, with performances at events such as the Tierras Competition, South Texas Classic, and Thunder in the Hills. His ensembles have earned multiple awards, including Best Drumline, Best Snare Line, Best Front Ensemble, and Best Tenors, and have achieved a first-place finish at the Tierras Competition. In addition to competitive achievements, Mr. Solalinde established an annual “Night of Percussion” concert, creating a tradition that highlights student performance and community engagement.
Mr. Solalinde is an active member of the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association. He is also an educational artist and proud endorser of Sabian Cymbals and Salyers Percussion.
